Matching Sets
Hey You,
Welcome back to my blog!
Two piece outfit sets are set to rule. Almost every retailer has a section on their site for “matching sets”, and designers are churning out everything from shorts, pants, skirts, crop tops, and blazers in the same prints and fabrics. Clearly, there’s no better way to wow everyone with your totally co-ordinated look. Coordinated sets or co-ords are extremely convenient because they take the hassle out of finding and matching separates. All you have to do is find a two-piece outfit that demonstrates your unique style and personality.
In the old days, a so-called twin-set was the epitome of classiness and elegance, but nowadays you can find casual co-ords, fun co-ords, sophisticated co-ords and even little beach wear numbers. So there’s no excuse for ignoring this delightful trend. There are skirt, shorts and pants co-ords. Choose one that you like and rock this trend.
In this blog, I will be discussing more about this trend and how to style co-ords with a twist that makes your outfit unique.
If you’re wondering how to style co-ord outfits for casual wear, then a shorts and top set is just what you need. For summer, a boldly bright shorts together with a camisole top would give just enough of a nautical flair. Printed co-ords are also marvelously attractive but since it is Spring in NYC, I choose to style a bright colored suit short set.
If you may have observed, I chose to style a bermuda short suit set. Other than the bright lime color, the burmuda short is what makes this outfit unique.
Bright suit sets are classy and would look the best with minimal accessories. I chose to pair the outfit with with yellow stilettos and a shoulder bag.
You can always wear the blazer top of the co-ord in a couple different ways. Feel free to button up or show off the contrasting crop top beneath. Elegant either way right?
You can find similar sets at ASOS. The heels are from Calvin Klein and the bag is from Michael Kors.
Now, of course, the traditional trouser suit is the forerunner of the pants and top co-ord trend, and once again, there’s a myriad of options to suit everyone. While a black crop top over a black jeans is my go to look, pastels are trending this Spring. I decided to pair my culottes together with a crop top, finished with two tone heels and a mini bag that makes the outfit hard to beat.
You can style co-ord outfits for your brunch outing or for an evening with your partner. Trust me, co-ords are a no-brainer and easy to style. They do not need much accessorizing. Find a cute pair of matching heels and you are good to go.
I decided to wear these culottes from Forever 21 and paired it with a matching Zara crop top. The belt and the color of the outfit makes it unique. So in case you are disappointed and can’t find a matching co-ord, search for the apparel in different stores. You might get lucky like I did.
While I accessorized this set a with a butterfly necklace, hoop earrings and a chain bracelet, feel free to skip all of them and you will still find the outfit cute and complete.
Moreover, when you’re thinking about how to choose a co-ord outfit, a skirt and top combo will probably spring to mind first. If the mini length is more to your liking, then you’re spoilt for choice. A little monochrome co-ordinated outfit looks delightfully feminine, whilst a B&W large-check gingham mini-skirt and sleeveless crop-top looks crisp and clean. Also, if it’s the classic look you’re after, I will be posting a couple of skirt suit set pictures on Instagram so stay tuned and please follow if you aren’t following my IG already.
