Winter Outfits

Hey You,

Welcome back to my blog!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas lights, holiday celebrations, and warm cozy evenings are finally here. Even though we are in the middle of a pandemic, NYC does not fail to charm us with the pretty fairy lights all around the City from Dyker Heights to the Rockefeller Center. I’d say pack a couple bottles of sanitizer and a handful of masks, grab a hot coffee and explore the pretty streets of the winter wonderland, New York.

In this blog, I will be sharing my outfits when I went to see the Christmas lights in New York. Winter outfits brings with it a myriad of challenges. How do you look stylish when you are layered up and completely covered? And just what do you wear to the holiday party or family Christmas? I’ll attempt to solve your winter outfit problems with suggestions and style tips to make you look stylishly you!

From pants to dresses, sweaters to hats, coats to capes, I’ve got cute winter outfit ideas for you. Without further ado, let’s jump straight to it.

Like everyone, my first concern is to stay warm and comfortable while walking the windy streets of New York. So when I decided to visit the Vessel or Hudson Yards, I decided to stick to the basics. A beige fur coat over a cute pink full-sleeves blouse with a flared jeans kept me all warm and cozy. The fur coats adds all the style to the outfit so a styling tip would be to go for an edgy coat over your denim-blouse basics.

What other basic outfit combinations could you go for that look wonderful in the twinkly lights and are instagram worthy? A cheetah print coat over a black bodysuit and a blue denim or a red fur coat over a white turtleneck and black denim. See the pattern here? The coats do all the styling magic.

Another day, another outfit. This time I was headed to Brookfield place in the Financial District. While yellow lights and Christmas trees look amazing, this giant mall facing the river has something bright and different. Here is another idea for a classy and boujie winter outfit.

With the lights all bright and colorful, I decided to stick to a monochromatic look. I wore a black striped midi dress over a white full-sleeves turtleneck sweater. To complete the look, I paired it with a black peacoat, beige handbag and laced beige boots.

If you are in New York, I highly recommend giving Brookfield place a visit. They have a good music selection and an amazing display of lights. I will be uploading a video later on my Instagram with a quick tour of this gorgeous place.

You can find a similar dress at H&M. I got the turtleneck and boots from Zara while the bag is from Charles and Keith.

A styling tip here would be to pair your summer dresses with a body hugging sweater or a turtleneck. If you try out this outfit idea, don’t forget to tag me on your post.

Now, for a slightly warmer day in New York or if you plan to stay at home and celebrate Christmas with your friends and family, you can always style gorgeous party dresses. Make sure to carry gloves, cap and a coat. For an intimate friends get together on a 54°F day , I decided to wear a glossy Christmas green dress with hot pink heels to contrast with the green.

If you are not a fan of hot pink, burgundy goes well with the green and will try to balance the color brightness of your outfit.

Another cute outfit idea is to wear a cute skater skirt over an oversized white shirt or shirt dress. Pair it with cute boots and a cap and you are all set for a Christmas dinner. Here is how I styled my red skirt with a white shirt dress with cuff details.

You can find the shirt dress and the skirt at Missguided. If you have not checked out Missguided already, do give it a shot because absolutely love their collection.

Here’s the tip for the week-

Tip #14: The coats do all the styling magic for a basic outfit. Layering a strap dress over a turtleneck, sweater or a bodysuit is extremely classy and compliments all silhouettes. Glossy short dresses with contrasting shoes or a cute shirt-skirt combo with boots are great options for a Christmas dinner with your loved ones.
