Indowestern Saree

Hey You,

Welcome back to my blog!

Indian women have been wearing sarees for a long time but with the passage of time, the traditional way of saree draping has undergone many changes. Every year, our very talented designers showcase new saree styles on the runway which later become the trend. Even though the fashion trends have moved towards fusion wear, sarees continue to feature the authentic traditional appeal associated with ethnic apparels.

For me, saree is my favorite Indian clothing for it gives you that elegant and classy feel with a feminine touch. Be it, formal, casual, sexy, or traditional look that you are aiming for, a beautifully draped saree can do all the magic for you. While I love to wear my saree in its most authentic way, this Ganpati festival, I wanted to try out the new saree trend to add an element of fun to my look.

One such saree trend I have been wanting to try is ‘pant sarees’ that have become so popular these days. Wearing your saree with pants is very bold and smart. It is a great blend of Indian and western expression. The best thing about this trend is that you can pair your saree with a pair of denims, leggings, jeggings, straight pants, chudidar pants or any other bottoms that you like.

Let your pants be visible and enjoy the appreciation.

Here is how I styled my mom’s gorgeous saree with denim and a crop top -

I styled this gorgeous saree with a Vintage straight denim from Garage and a faux leather crop top from Zara. I accessorized my look with ethnic contrasting big earrings, bracelets, a necklace, and beige stiletto heels from Aldo.

This saree pant has the perfect indowestern summer vibe you want and trust me, it is super practical and you can walk comfortably in this.

One of the traditional and beautiful drapes is a Gujarati style. This style is really liked by many because it brings a richness look to your saree plus you can flaunt your heavy saree pallu with this drape.

I created a mix of Gujarati and Maharashtrian saree draping style to put together a unique look.

You can wear your saree pants with latest blouse designs like crop tops, peplum blouses or embroidered ethnic jackets. You can also pair them with floral blouses, off-shoulder tops, or high neck metallic tops.

Have you ever thought of wearing your saree with a belt? Yes, you heard it right. You can wear a belt with your saree. It will give you a contemporary look and will highlight your waistline. Also, it will add some flair to your look.

Also, the western style leather jacket looks great in Indian style saree draped with a pant. Add a pinch of statement to the entire look by pairing it up with a fancy belt. The touch of contemporary style will make you stand out from the crowd.

Do give this trend a try! If you are not comfortable wearing a crop top, swap it for a fancy blouse or boat neck blouse. The victorian sleeve/puffy sleeve blouse is another trend that you might want to try. Again, saree looks gorgeous on every possible silhouette so don’t hesitate to go all out with designer sarees.

And as I always say, feel free to dress up or down with accessories and don’t forget to have fun.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Here’s the tip for the week-

Tip #10: Wearing your saree with pants is a blend of Indian and western expression. Embrace this trend by draping a gorgeous saree with your favorite pair of pants and a crop top. Feel free to wear a denim contrasting saree or sport a matching one. Do not forget to add in Indian ethnic accessories to highlight the ethnic appeal of the outfit and make some heads turn.
